Members council replaces Worldchoice management committee

Monday, 29 Sep, 2006 0

A membership consultative council has been introduced by independent agents’ consortium Worldchoice.

It replaces a longstanding management committee and is designed to make membership representation more effective and proactive.

The council will be made up of representatives elected by members from eight new areas rather than the committee which comprises of a delegate from each of the 21 Worldchoice regions. Each of the new areas will represent up to three of the existing Worldchoice regions.

The council will elect one of the eight area representatives to serve on the Worldchoice board for a year as a non-executive director.

The result of elections for the first area representatives are due to be announced on October 11.

Membership support and development director Helen Burgess said: “This is an exciting new development which will enable the board and staff to work even more closely with members and ensure that we can come up with joint initiatives to assist members to compete even more effectively in a highly competitive market.”

Worldchoice chairman and managing director Colin Heal said: “The area representatives will be able to work closely not only with the Worldchoice board but with Worldchoice managers and staff. In this way we are confident that it will be much more effective and proactive than the current management committee.”
