Mexican hotelier Posadas coming to US
Mexican hotelier Grupo Posadas plans a major push in the US market with the launch of the Live Aqua upscale brand in at least five US cities.
A partnership with Bighorn Capital will earmark $450 million for hotels in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Houston and Washington.
The cities were chosen for their large Hispanic communities and popularity with Latin American travelers, according to a Posadas statement.
Posadas has instructed Debut Hotel Group to manage the properties.
The first opening is slated for Chicago in 2017, in a 82-story high rise building.
"We are very excited to introduce the American consumer and international tourists to Live Aqua, our luxury brand with a unique Latin style known for warm, attentive service," said Javier Barrera, Posadas vice president.
The company is Mexico’s largest hotel operator with more than 130 hotels which includes two Live Aqua branded hotels in Cancun and Mexico City.
