‘Miracle’ sees passenger plane crash-land safely after striking flock of birds
A Russian passenger plane, with 233 on board, has made an emergency landing in a cornfield near Moscow after striking a flock of birds shortly after take-off.
The incident, in which 23 people were injured, has been dubbed a ‘miracle’ by Russian media.
The Ural Airlines Airbus 321 landed with its engines turned off and landing gear up, according to officials.
The plane was travelling to Simferopol in Crimea when a flock of gulls were reportedly sucked into its engines.
Crew took the decision to make an emergency landing and passengers were evacuated.
The airline said the plane was significantly damaged and would not fly again.
