American teen found after three days missing in Germany
A 14-year-old American teen went missing for nearly three days after going ashore during a port call in Rostock.
It triggered a wide scale missing person search by police.
Aydin Brown and his grandmother were guests aboard a Caribbean Princess cruise ship.
He went ashore alone last Thursday and failed to return.
After scanning CCTV and ‘analysis of technical data’ he was eventually found 120 miles from Rostock.
He was staying at a residence near Potsdam.
Rostock city police said in a statement that the teenager was found about 10 p.m. Saturday in the city of Brandenburg, which is about 120 miles south of the port.
Brown had apparently arranged to meet an unidentified 19-year old person and was found at a local residence.
“There is no evidence of a criminal offense,” Rostock police said.
The cruise line thanked Rostock police for helping to track him down.
“We are delighted that Aydin Brown has been found safe and sound. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to German authorities for their swift response.”
During the search Princess paid for Aydin Brown’s mother to fly out to Germany.
The ship is on a 12-day cruise roundtrip from Southampton visiting Scandinavia and Baltic Sea ports.

Let's hope they charge the parents for wasting Police time, a hefty fine would be nice

So many unanswered questions here! 1) Why would a grandmother allow her 14 y.o. grandson to leave the ship alone? Or did he sneak off without her permission? 2) WHO was this 19 y.o. he was meeting? How did he come into contact with him/her to make these "arrangements"? 3) Did he INTEND to not re-board (miss) the ship? 4) Did the young man NOT realize how distraught his family would be that he went missing? 5) Is this out of character for him? Or does he need counseling?
