Missing cruise ship passenger ‘does not want to be found’
After a missing persons search lasting several days in the island of Bonaire, Carnival Cruise Line issued a statement saying the disappearance of a woman was a deliberate action to disappear on her part.
American Jessica Collins, 47, has apparently made the decision to leave the ship and ‘be on her own.’
“A guest from Carnival Horizon disembarked when it visited Bonaire and did not return. She debarked with all her belongings in her backpack and left a cash gratuity for the stateroom attendant with a thank you note,” the cruise line said.
“The guest subsequently texted a member of our Care Team who had been trying to reach her saying she was safe and did not want to be found or contacted again.”
The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force on Bonaire had been conducting a missing person operation for several days with apparently no confirmed sightings since she left the ship.
The Carnival Horizon ship returned to Miami at the weekend following a week long southern Caribbean sailing.
The ship also docked at Aruba and Curacao.
