Mole-in-the-field: Destination Britain event shows off "new" Stonehenge and other goodies
This week’s Destination Britain event held in New York showcased a wide range of new attractions, services and hospitality options designed to continue travelers love affair with the UK long after the Olympic glow is over.
TravelMole’s table at the event was inundated with information on draws for 2014 including the announced "new" Stonehenge around November of next year. The prehistoric site has for some time been criticized for an outdated visitor center, proximity to a major highway and other distractions from the awesome site of these Druidic bolders. The new state-of-the-art visitor center spearheaded by English Heritage will be located in a non-distracting location further away from the stone site. Viewing areas of the stones themselves will be free from sight-lines to nearby roads and highways and travelers will be able to immerse themselves more fully in Stonehenge’s mystery and magic.
Other events and attractions include Visit Scotland’s 2013 push for visitors to enjoy the beauties of outdoor Scotland, Shakespeare’s 450th birthday bash in Stratford-Upon-Avon and Blenheim Palace’s first ever Garden Show.
