Monarch Airlines appoints MD
Andrew Swaffield has been appointed managing director of Monarch Airlines, starting on April 1.
He replaces Kevin George, who left in November to take up a senior position outside the aviation industry.
In the interim, the MD role was assumed by Iain Rawlinson, who remains executive chairman.
Swaffield, pictured here, joins from Avios Group, where he was MD for seven years.
Under his leadership, Avios launched the new global single currency for International Airlines Group (IAG), which owns Avios Group Limited, and the new Avios brand in 2011.
Before that he worked for Thomas Cook and British Airways (since 1994) where he headed leisure sales in the UK and Ireland, as well as running its travel agency and tour operating subsidiaries.
