Monarch Airlines’ relaunch hits a roadblock
The much-heralded resurrection of Monarch Airlines seems unlikely right now.
New owners of the brand name were recently touting a restart years after the original Monarch collapsed.
It hadn’t applied for a AOC and now says plans for a relaunch are on hold.
It says plans are now halted due to insufficient funds.
The Civil Aviation Authority said it has not received an application to fly commercial services from Monarch 2.0.
This process can typically take a year or longer before approval.
The original Monarch Airlines, then the fifth largest in the UK, collapsed in October 2017, leaving thousands stranded overseas.
