Monarch will operate flights to Calabria in south west Italy next summer.
Weekly flights will depart from Gatwick on Saturdays to Lemezia.
The area is known for its white sandy beaches, Greek-influenced architecture, mountainous villages and hiking opportunities.
Managing director Tim Jeans said: “We have seen increasing demand from a number of tour operators this year to offer flights to Calabria and we are delighted that we are now able to do so.
“The service will operate from Gatwick for summer 2011 but if demand continues to grow as expected, services will expand to operate from other bases in the future."
