Monarch increases check-in baggage allowance

Saturday, 03 May, 2017 0

Monarch Holidays has increased its luggage allowance from 20kgs to 23kgs on beach package holidays.

The new hold luggage allowance will be applied to all existing bookings for travel after May 1.

The extra allowance will not apply to those booking city breaks.

Confirmation of the change will be sent directly to all agents for those bookings entitled to the new allowance, said the airline.

Monarch said the moved was in response to a survey in which it was revealed that almost half of all respondents used their maximum weight allowance.

Also, customers flying home from Turkey will have their allowance increased by an additional 3kgs, to 26kgs in total, to allow for the carriage of electronic items that can no longer be carried in the cabin following a government ban.

Monarch Holidays’ sales director Gary Anslow said: "We are continuously reviewing our product offering and looking at how we can improve the holiday experience for our customers, whether that’s during their flight or when they are at their hotel, villa or apartment.

"We know that increasing our standard luggage allowance from 20kg to 23kg will be well received by our agent partners and their customers, and will sit alongside our permanent £59 deposit as a key reason for customers to choose to take their holiday with Monarch."
