Monkey business in Sabah
KOTA KINABALU – Monkey Tops Lodge has opened in Sabah,
Located 100km south of Kota Kinabalu, Monkey Tops Safari is part of Sabah’s promotion of eco-tourism and the preservation and appreciation of the region’s wildlife.
Said Sydney-based director of Tourism Malaysia, Shahrin Mokhtar, “Most visitors to East Malaysia are adventure seekers or nature lovers who appreciate the island’s unique wildlife and activities. There’s no place quite like it on earth.
“The birth of this lodge is in response to the growing demands for ‘back to basics’ in the wild accommodation, where an intimate interaction with nature can be experienced.â€
The lodge’s close proximity to the mangroves in the unique Klias Wetland Peninsula means a cruise along the river will expose visitors to the mangrove’s wildlife, including proboscis monkeys, long tail macaques as well as a wide range of tropical birds, such as storks, quails, kingfishers, green pigeons and herons.
The lodge can accommodate up to 200 people and is equipped with the latest multimedia facilities.
