More trouble at TQ.
Only week after Tourism Queensland Chairman Peter Wade resigned, TQ CEO Ian Mitchell [pictured right at the recent ATE07 in Brisbane] has also resigned, deciding not to renew his contract at the end of this month, after three years in the post, having taken up the key tourism role after an extensive industry career, including senior roles with Qantas.
Ian is reported to be returning to the private sector and has said that he is in early discussions with some aviation companies.
With his three-year fixed term finishing at the end of the month he has declined the opportunity for another term, although when The Mole interviewed Ian at ATE – pls see: – https://www.travelmole.com/stories/1118705.php?news_cat=&pagename=searchresult there was no suggestion whatsoever that he would not being at TQ well into the future.
Ian is considered to have done an excellent job in TWQ during his tenure.
The acting CEO will be announced shortly, pending the recruitment of a new CEO.
