Movenpick Hotels arrives in China
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has signed the Mövenpick Hotel Shanghai in China with King Land Real Estate Ltd, marking the first of a series of developments in the country.
The newly built 300-room hotel close to Shanghai International Circuit and Kunshan City will open in 2013.
Jean Gabriel Pérès, president and CEO of Hotels & Resorts, said China represents a critical part of the company’s growth strategy in emerging markets.
Mövenpick aims to grow the portfolio in China by five to 10 hotels over the next five years through a combination of strategic alliances as well as further management contracts.
