Movenpick Resort Aswan Actions Benefit Nile River

Saturday, 30 Aug, 2017 0

With a spectacular view over the river Nile from its 230 elegant rooms, suites and villas, the Movenpick Resort Aswan offers guests a unique location on Elephantine Island in Egypt.

Green Globe recently recertified Movenpick Resort Aswan for the sixth year.

Sustainability remains at the forefront of the hotel’s operations and management. Located in close proximity to the River Nile, the property ensures that energy and water consumption does not impact on this iconic landmark or neighbouring areas. In addition, participants in Green Meetings are encouraged to enjoy the magnificent scenery as well as protect it. For one group event resort staff organised Felucca, traditional wooden sailing boats, in place of motorboats. Significant environmental benefits are gained by such actions including minimizing the use of fossil fuels and reducing carbon emissions.

Movenpick Resort Aswan’s contribution to the regional economy and prosperity is demonstrated by its commitment to ensure that all employees are from Aswan and other parts of Egypt. Training programs are regularly offered to provide employees with support to achieve the highest levels of professionalism. In 2016, one hundred and twenty-four employees received twenty-one hours of training in sustainability.

According to its sustainability management plan and purchasing policy, the property prefers suppliers who follow best environmental practices such as Mövenpick, Nestle and Diversy. Furthermore, items needed in Green Meetings are sourced from local suppliers to assist community businesses.
