MSC offering commissionable prepaid cruise activities
MSC Cruises is to pay commission to agents on additional prepaid cruise activities.
The cruise line will pay agents 5% for prepaid spa treatments, specialty restaurants, beverages and celebration packages.
Similar items booked with most mainstream cruise lines are non-commissionable.
MSC said this is in addition to commissionable bookings already in place for shore excursions, hotel and air packages, and ground transfers.
Earlier this month the National Association of Career Travel Agents (NACTA) spoke out about low cruise fares and the increasing number of non-commissionable fees in the mainstream cruise industry.
MSC will also pay out 25% commission for balcony cabins on MSC Divina sailings between August 2 and December 20 for bookings through July 31.
Also, from June 2, agents will be awarded one tour conductor credit for every 20 full-fare paying guests traveling on the same cruise.
