SINGAPORE – – Rupoert Murdoch’s News Digital Media has made a multimillion-dollar investment in travel meta-search engine Bezurk.com.

Former executives with Zuji, which now owned by Travelocity, founded Bezurk in 2005. Since then it has signed important agreements including a Yahoo SE Asia portal deal and a Lonely Planet distribution agreement in 2006, and a portal deal with News Corp in Australia earlier this year

Bezurk.com makes money from searches across more than 80 travel partner websites for real-time price and availability information.

A News spokesman said he expected the Asia-Pacific online travel industry to move towards growth rates seen in the US.

News Digital Media said Bezurk.com is one of the fastest growing online travel aggregators on the internet, delivering travellers based in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand with comparisons for flights, hotels and tours.

NDM chief executive Richard Freudenstein said the acquisition is a strategic investment that will help the company identify new commercial opportunities locally and overseas.

“Online travel is a key vertical in News Digital Media’s growth plans and is a natural fit for our business,” he said.
