Musk’s LA Hyperloop tunnel opening in December
Elon Musk’s Hyperloop transport system in Los Angeles is just weeks away from operating test journeys.
Musk says it will be ready for test rides in early December.
While Musk and main business Tesla has constantly remained in the news, subsidiary ‘The Boring Company’ has been quietly completing work beneath LA.
HyperLoop systems have been hyped as a revolutionary way to ease inner city congestion.
Musk has touted journey times of just 10 minutes between downtown and Los Angeles Airport.
"The first tunnel is almost done. Opens Dec 10," Musk tweeted.
It will be unveiled at an opening event that eveing and will offer ‘free rides for the public the next day,’ he added.
Hyp[erloop speeds could eventually reach over 482km/h although Musk says the test tunnel will be restricted to a top speed of 250 km/h.
Meanwhile, rival Virgin Hyperloop announced Sir Richard Branson is stepping down from its executive board in favor of a ‘more hands-on chairman.’
