MyTravel shares up 30 per cent
Shares in MyTravel provided the most interest among industry stocks yesterday, as London’s equity markets pushed ahead.
The FTSE 100 index added 35 points to end the day at 4753.4, while the FTSE 250 also had a good day, gaining 13.4 points to close at 6596.4.
Following a High Court agreement that the firm would be allowed to restructure itself, shares in MyTravel jumped 1.25p to finish at 5.5p – an increase of 30 per cent.
EasyJet dropped 2.75p to close at 183.75p – The Guardian attributed the fall to profit taking “after a recent strong run”, though the fall could also be to do with the resignation of finance director Chris Walton, who announced his departure yesterday.
Lastminute.com also suffered yesterday, falling back 15.5p to close at 104.25 after releasing results that disappointed the markets and revealing that chief financial officer David Howell was to step down.
