MyTravelLite claims strong response to launch
MyTravelLite, Birmingham’s low fare airline launched last week, has reported that over 11,000 bookings have already been made.
Over 6,000 bookings were taken on the first day of sale (Friday 9 August), with another 5,000 added over the weekend.
Paris, Geneva and Malaga have been the most popular destinations to date and the airline has reported high demand from skiers looking to grab the cheapest fares (from 24 one way) to Geneva, five months before the first snow is due in the alps. Belfast and Alicante flights are also running ahead of initial projections.
MyTravelLite said that it is “flattered” by British Airways lowering fares on some routes, including Belfast and Geneva, where it now faces low cost competition for the first time.
Tim Jeans, Managing Director of MyTravelLite said: “We always knew there would be high demand for our low fares now that they’re available for the first time, direct from Birmingham, but even we’ve been surprised by the response.
“The key to future success will be to keep our promise of low fares on every flight – not just a few ‘selected’ seats – and that’s exactly what MyTravelLite will do.”
