Nepal Airlines restarts two more India routes
National carrier Nepal Airlines hopes to help kickstart the country’s post-quake recovery by restarting flights from Kathmandu to key markets in India.
The airline is offering a ‘buy two get one free’ fare promotion for Bengaluru and Mumbai flights.
The round trip fare, starting at INR14,000, is valid until the end of September.
Following the start of the Bengaluru route earlier in the week, Mumbai flights resumed on Friday.
Both routes have restarted after a long hiatus of almost a decade, and both will initially operate twice weekly.
As the tourism season is coming up, Nepal tourism is ready to facilitate its tourists as the country has recovered after the earthquake," said director-general of tourism, Govind Bahadur Karki.
"To inform tourists who are planning a visit to Nepal soon, we have launched the slogan ‘Nepal Back on the Top of the World’," he added.
Even before the devastating earthquake in April, Indian arrivals to Nepal fell sharply by more than 25%, which has been attributed mainly to the closure of casinos in Nepal.
However the casino industry is now open for business again after solving regulatory issues.
"Casinos are picking up again in Nepal and, hence, we expect to attract a lot of Indian tourists," said Saroj Kasaju, commercial director of Nepal Airlines.
