Netflix checks in at Marriott Hotels
Marriott International Inc’s flagship Marriott Hotels brand will become the first major chain to offer guests in-room Netflix streaming content.
The tie-up allows guests to sign in to their Netflix account via the hotel’s internet-connected guest room televisions.
New users can also sign up to subscribe.
"Our collaboration with Netflix responds to changing consumer preferences in the way our guests access and watch content, while recognizing the leading role Netflix is playing in driving this transformation," said Matthew Carroll, vice president brand management, Marriott Hotels.
"Because consumers are choosing to take their streaming content with them when they travel, Marriott Hotels is making the industry’s first rollout of Netflix a priority."
The service is currently available at Marriott hotels in New York, San Jose, Princeton, Newport, Bethesda and Dallas/Fort Worth.
Marriott says it has adapted the Netflix app on its televisions so guests only need sign in once during a stay.
On check-out, all account information is erased, the company said.
Marriott International plans to expand the service to more hotels in the coming months and then to other Marriott brands.
