New boss for Travelport GDS in Europe
A former Avis executive has been named managing director of Travelport GDS’s newly formed Europe and Brazil region.
Olaf Gueldner will be based at the Galileo and Worldspan parent company’s headquarters in Langley, near Heathrow, when he joins the company in the first quarter of next year.
He will be responsible for maximising the growth opportunities identified in the emerging economies of Russia and Eastern Europe.
The appointment follows Bryan Conway becoming president and managing director for the Middle East and Africa region.
Gueldner’s former positions include director of marketing, partnership and leisure sales for Avis in EMEA and Asia as well as senior consultant for Bain & Company.
Gueldner will report to chief commercial officer Armin Meier, who said: “Olaf brings with him a wealth of knowledge and management experience, a proven track record of revenue growth and a customer focussed approach to service and product.â€
Meanwhile, in the Americas region, Travis Christ has been appointed president and managing director having working for US Airways, Continental Airlines and American Airlines.
