New CEO at Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism
Christine Prince has been appointed the new chief executive of regional tourism organisation Christchurch & Canterbury Tourism (CCT).
Ms Prince has a strong marketing and management background and based in Christchurch for the past two and a half years, she comes originally from the United Kingdom and has worked in senior positions for leading brand name companies internationally.
Her most recent role was group manager marketing for Postie Plus Group Limited (PPGL). Prior to this she was in Australia for nine years working in marketing management for Lion Nathan, Paspaley Pearls and in the advertising industry.
CCT board chairman, Paul Bingham said the high profile position attracted a large number of top applicants. Selecting the new CEO had been a rigorous process over several months.
“We are delighted to welcome Christine to Christchurch & Canterbury Tourism. She brings a wealth of brand management and promotional expertise to the role. Her experience in international markets is also of great value, as our key target markets are based offshore,” he said.
Last year CCT won the New Zealand Tourism Award for excellence in tourism service and has been nominated again in 2007.
Ms Prince joins CCT on 20 August and is enthusiastic about her new role and her chosen home, Christchurch.
“Christchurch is a vibrant city, aptly named The Garden City and recognised as the gateway for tourism in the South Island.”
“One of our key challenges is to attract visitors to stay longer in our region and ‘take time to smell the roses’. Christchurch is more than just a gateway but a destination with numerous attractions to enjoy,” she said.
“CCT is recognised as the most proactive of all regional tourism organisations in international markets, with the most accomplished Convention Bureau in the country, and is acknowledged by our peers as a leading i-SITE in New Zealand’s visitor information network,” Mr Bingham said.
