New flight operations chief named at Island Air
Hawaii based Island Air has announced the promotion of Steven Longdon to director of flight operations.
Longdon has 18 years’ experience in aviation and joined Island Air a year ago as a captain operating its new fleet of DHC 8 Q400 aircraft.
Prior to Island Air, he worked at Wing Aviation in Houston, and before that was aviation safety manager and captain for medical transport company CareFlight.
"Steven has quickly proven that he has the experience and leadership skills to successfully manage our flight operations and help Island Air continue to grow and expand," said David Uchiyama, CEO of Island Air.
"He will play an integral role in the operation of our airline working closely with the pilots and managers to ensure that we maintain the highest level of safety for our customers."
The airline filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this month amid a dispute with its aircraft lessors.
