New guests banned at Sandals Grenada after Covid outbreak
Grenada’s Ministry of Health says a Covid outbreak has been discovered at Sandals Grenada with 26 positive cases linked to the resort.
It has infected guests and employees, as well as their close contacts.
It was discovered during a routine testing program.
The New Today reports the resort was ordered to re-accommodate new guests to hotels in other countries.
At a media briefing Grenada’s health minister said his department is investigating ‘why, when and how’ the virus spread at the resort.
It will also look at potential breaches of Covid rules and if there is any ‘flaw’ in its protocols.
"Grenada’s situation is an isolated one, the asymptomatic individuals were quickly identified, and we are collaborating with public health authorities to develop key learnings further," Sandals said.
"The government has asked that we pause the acceptance of new arrivals for the next several days, however, the resort is currently open and fully operational for guests to enjoy."
Travellers arriving in Grenada must have proof of a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours of travel.
