New guide replaces obsolete books on New Orleans
Frommer’s has published what it calls the first “full post-Katrina upgrade” guidebook in the wake of local guides becoming obsolete after last year’s hurricane.
Frommer’s Portable New Orleans says the French Quarter and the Garden District look like they used to and that the idea of devastated tourism areas is a “huge misconception.”
Good hotels are available for less than $100, according to the guide.
“The food is as good, if not better” than before.
The guide will be out in an expanded version early next year.
Frommer’s is also publishing a free online mini-guide that will have a “Remembering Katrina” section with a timeline of recovery and frequently asked questions about the city, said the Associated Press.
