New hidden camera lawsuit filed against Royal Caribbean
A new lawsuit has been filed against Royal Caribbean following the conviction of a crew member for video voyeurism.
A new 30-page lawsuit was filed in Miami on behalf of 12 cruise ship guests.
Crew member Arvin Joseph Mirasol was earlier this year and sentenced him to 30 years in prison.
He is named as a defendant in the new lawsuit.
Mirasol placed hidden cameras in stateroom bathrooms which may have impacted hundreds of guests.
The filing by Aronfeld Trial Lawyers follows an earlier class action lawsuit by a mother and two daughters.
Mirasol was a stateroom attendant on the Symphony of the Seas.
“Many of the victims we represent still do not know if and how their images have been used or circulated. Some of the plaintiffs are children – and once an image is on the internet it is there forever,” attorney Spencer Aronfeld said.
“We hope that RCCL will take full responsibility for the heinous and reprehensible conduct of its crewmember. And we hope that this lawsuit will motivate RCCL and the other major cruise lines to spend more effort screening their crewmembers.”
After Mirasol’s arrest, the cruise line said: “We have zero tolerance for this unacceptable behavior. We immediately reported this to law enforcement and terminated the crew member.”
“We demand a judgment for all damages recoverable under the law, including punitive damages, and a trial by jury,” Aronfeld added
