New international Covid Travel Pass unveiled by Qatar Airways
UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has confirmed that the Government is planning to launch a ‘vaccine passport’ for international travel.
He said the Government is discussing how this will work with other countries around the world, including Singapore.
The International Civil Aviation Organisation is expected to co-ordinate international efforts to come up with a global standard for vaccination passports.
But the international airline body IATA has already launched a digital Travel Pass to record a passenger’s Covid tests, which could also record vaccinations in the future.
It’s also proposed that the Travel Pass will provide users with information on travel requirements and also where to get Covid tests while abroad.
The app will be tested by Qatar Airways from next month. Here Senior Vice President Europe Thierry de Bailleul explains how it will work and flight safety during Covid.
