New Jersey full of new slogans but all are rejected
New Jersey may be the “Garden State” but it’s having trouble with slogans.
It’s second attempt at a tagline in less than a year, “Come See for Yourself,” has been rejected. State officials said legal issues forced them to scrap the latest slogan, which had already been used by the state of West Virginia.
The “Come” slogan was the result of a statewide contest after Gov. Richard J. Codey rejected a consultant’s suggestion: ”We’ll Win You Over.”
State tourism officials say they will not select any of the four other finalists chosen in the contest: “Love at Right Sight,” “The Real Deal,” “The Best Kept Secret” and “Expect the Unexpected.”
Tourism officials had no timetable on when a new slogan might be selected.
