New Mercure on Batam Island
Accor have announced the openign of their second hotel on Batam Island, with the Mercure Batam opening today after an extensive multi-million dollar renovation.
The 160-room hotel is located on Jalan Raden Patah in the Nagoya area in the island’s main commercial hub, 10 kilometres from Hang Nadim Airport and only 4 kilometers from the Batam Centre Ferry Terminal with service to both Singapore and Indonesia.
To promote Mercure Batam’s opening, the hotel is offering a special 375,000 Rp (US$42) rate per night is inclusive of breakfast valid from now until the end of June, 2007.
Only a short ferry ride from Singapore Batam is popular for golf, water-sports, shopping and cultural attractions, such as the massive and beautiful Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Buddhist temple at Batam Centre.
Batam is also an emerging venue for international conferences, corporate meetings and events.
A comprehensive renovation programme upgraded all major areas of the hotel, formerly the Royal Batam, including new design motifs for all guest rooms and public areas and Mercure Batam now offering a new look in its all day dining coffee shop, specialty restaurant, fun pub, karaoke lounge, swimming pool, fitness centre, meeting rooms, business centre and shopping arcade.
The hotel will fill an important niche due to a current lack of international quality mid-range hotel product on the island, the hotel joining a vast network of over 750 Mercure hotels in 45 countries, wihh Mercure hotels renowned for being the ‘keys to the city’ and provide a true taste of the region and country in which they are based.
Mercure Batam will be Accor’s second hotel on the island, joining the 244-room Novotel Batam, with Accor operating 41 Mercure hotels around Asia Pacific with six additional hotels committed to development and scheduled to open before the end of 2008.
