New NCL ship prepares for sea trials
Norwegian Cruise Line’s new ship Norwegian Pearl has left its German ship yard in preparation for sea trials.
The 93,500 tonne vessel will take to open waters November 4 for the first of its sea trials.
The 2,400-passenger ship will host a UK trade preview for up to 3,000 guests in Southampton on December 1 before sailing to its home port of Miami for its inaugural cruise on December 16.
Norwegian Pearl is due to run nine-day Southern Caribbean and five-day Western Caribbean itineraries until April 2007. The ship will then reposition to sail seven-day Alaskan itineraries from Seattle next summer before returning to Miami in September for the remainder of the 2007 season.
The ship incorporates the cruise industry’s first full-size, four-lane ten-pin bowling alley as well as a rock-climbing wall and two deluxe owner suites.
