The Big Easy means big bucks for New Year’s Eve revelers, according to a new survey from TravelMag.com.

The survey looked at 30 major US destinations and the cost of the cheapest available double room at 3 star or above for a December 31 stay.

New Orleans came out top as the most expensive on average, at $359 which is a 300% premium on the regular rate.

"With most New Orleans hotels being close to sold out for New Year’s Eve, those that still have vacancies are attaching stipulations to them. More specifically, most such hotels are requiring that guests commit to staying at least two, or in some cases even three, nights," said TravelMag.com spokesperson, Barbara Adams.

Closely followed in second place was Atlantic City at $350, almost six times higher than regular winter room rates and by far the biggest rate increase among all destinations surveyed.

New York City at $345 a night was the third most expensive place to see in the New Year.

According to the survey Indianapolis at $89 offers the nation’s best value at just 2% above the regular price.

The top 10 most expensive cities for New Year’s Eve in the cheapest available double room at 3-star or above are as follows:

1. New Orleans $359 (+ 302%)
2. Atlantic City $350 (+ 586%)
