New prediction on aircraft sales more down to earth

Friday, 20 Jun, 2012 0

The long-term 20-year forecast for the global business and commercial aircraft market: Rougher skies than anticipated.

That was the conclusion of Bombardier in its annual forecast. It expects industry delivers of 20 to 149-seat commercial aircraft to drop by 2.3% or 300 planes from last year’s forecast. The new forecast calls for 12,800 units between this year and 2031.

Reasons: slower global economic growth and big increases in oil prices.

Market confidence in the business jet market is still not "fully restored" but should return to "sustained growth" starting in 2013, with large jets showing the fastest growth, Bombardier said.
