New show to cater for travelling elite
A new trade show for the luxury travel sector will be held in Cannes this December.
The show, called International Luxury Travel Market, has a management team which includes dreamClick.com chief executive Serge Dive as marketing director and David Hammond who was overseas exhibition director at Reed Travel Exhibitions until 1997 and went on to launch ITE Travel Exhibitions in Central & Eastern Europe, the Middle East and East Mediterranean. Mr Hammond, who is the event’s industry relations director, is also the current president of ETTFA – the European Tourism Trade Fairs Association.
Mr Dive said: “The creation of a dedicated international luxury travel market place is long overdue. This elite 3% of holidaymakers account for a significant 20% of total holiday expenditure and provide a lucrative market that is immune to economic downturn. All our market research has clearly demonstrated that luxury travel is an industry in its own right.”
The organisers hope to attract 150 exhibitors to the inaugural event including tourist boards, luxury ski resorts, private jet charter, cruise lines, limousine services, yacht charter & sailing, luxury rail, five star and above hotels & resorts, casinos and specialist luxury inbound tour operators.
Trade visitors will include 400 fully hosted overseas buyers, who will be screened both for being specialist trade buyers of luxury travel, and for having direct purchasing authority within their organisation. The organisers say these will include people responsible for planning the travel for “some of the wealthiest star & celebrity, corporate businesses and government related clientele around the world.” These buyers will enjoy a total VIP service including flights to Nice, complimentary helicopter shuttle from Nice to Cannes and complimentary five star hotel accommodation.
ILTM takes place at the Palais des Festivals et des Congres, Cannes from 10-12 December 2002. For further information see: http://www.iltm.net.
