New tool makes easier for families to get together
Site59 unveiled a new online tool will make it convenient for families and friends in different areas to coordinate their travel plans.
The patent-pending tool is called “Meet Me In.” It will be used exclusively on Site59 to the end of the year when it gets rolled out on the Last Minute Deals section of Travelocity.com.
“Coordinating flight times for two different departure cities in today’s online environment is very time-consuming because traditional travel websites are not built for this kind of itinerary,” said Jeff Varhol, general manager of Site59.
The “Meet Me” tool gives users the choice of traditional departures or searches simultaneously for different round-trip flight, hotel and rental car availability from two cities. Complete pricing is also found.
Because of a rewritten search algorithm that ties into Site59’s inventory management system, the tool retrieves six recommended packages. These are based on price, travel time, and coordinated arrival and departure times.
The system also calculates the hours and minutes travelers will have to be together for each option.
