New website helps families plan for 2009 UK holidays
The latest consumer report from Mintel shows the trend for Brits holidaying abroad is slowing this summer, as a result of the economic climate.
71% of us have been forced to cut down our expenditure and 35% admit recession fears have stopped ‘main holiday’ plans in the next six months.
Interestingly, mums and dads still see a great importance in enjoying family leisure time, with 91% saying they wont cut back on giving their children pocket money!
With so many people forced to find inexpensive holiday options on home turf – how can families enjoy fun packed breaks together and keep costs down this summer?
A useful tool for many parents is the ‘Let’s Go with the Children’ website
Launched early 2009 the site offers the largest searchable database of days out, attractions and leisure ideas across the country.
An advanced search function allows parents to look for days out in their local area or holiday destination that are free of charge, or low in price.
There’s also a variety of downloadable ‘kids go free’ vouchers, free ticket competitions and local event listings – making it even easier to plan affordable activities.
The website has has 3 x case study families available to be interviewed. They are customers who are staying at home for their holidays this year, and regularly benefit from the information provided on the website and printed guide book range.
With the launch of their 2009 guide books the website hopes to encourage families to spend time together this summer, whatever the weather and whatever the budget!
