New website launching for ASEAN Covid-19 tourism updates
The nations of Southeast Asia will share all updates regarding all Covid-19 restrictions and travel advisories on a new web platform.
Each of the ASEAN bloc’s national tourism departments will publish Covid-19-related updates at the soon to launch website visiteasia.travel.
It will collate all travel-related changes in restrictions for travellers, travel advisories, post-pandemic travel policies and the latest data.
Following a proposal from Malaysia, it has been agreed to distribute all relevant information through a single web resource.
This will restore trust for travellers right across the ASEAN region, said Candra Negara, director of inter-institutional relations for Indonesia’s ministry of tourism and creative economy.
"The world community wants to know: how strategies to handle Covid-19 are being developed and what efforts have been carried out by tourism stakeholders in each state."
Indonesia’s approach involves ‘enhancing channels of communication, introducing services to reassure tourists and the deployment of human and digital resources to tackle the crisis," added Agustini Rahayu, director of communication bureau at the tourism ministry.
It will be a tourism focused addition to the Indonesian government’s covid19.go.id website, which is handled by the government’s national task force.
