New York ground stop causes flight delays
Flight operations at New York JFK are getting back to normal after a short ground stop was issued.
A Frontier Airlines flight developed engine trouble and a ground stop was in effect for more than one hour.
The flight from Puerto Rico landed without incident with no injuries reported.
It was held on the runway for some time, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The captain of the flight had declared an emergency as a ‘precautionary measure’ on its approach to JFK, the airline said.
It led to delays of up to four hours, with a ground stop also in effect at Newark for a short time.
This was impacted by strong winds and thunderstorms which also affected operations at New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
