New Zealand is back with specialist programme

Saturday, 06 Jun, 2013 0

Tourism New Zealand has launched a new online trade training programme.

The 100% Pure New Zealand Specialist Programme is a core part of Tourism New Zealand’s work with travel sellers offshore.

Tourism New Zealand general manager Australia Tim Burgess says the programme offers travel sellers the most effective and efficient training possible for improving their knowledge of New Zealand and tourism product.

"The Australian market has been without a specialist programme since the KEA Programme wound up a number of years ago. We know the reintroduction of an agent training programme will be welcomed by agents," Burgess said.

100% Pure New Zealand Specialist agents are able to use the title and logo in their company marketing.

Its launch comes on the back of one of the biggest trade familiarisation trips ever with Tourism New Zealand and airline partner Emirates.

Around 250 agents from Australia spent five days in May travelling around the country on one of 12 different itineraries and attended an all-day training session on tourism product.

In order to become a 100% Pure New Zealand Specialist, travel agents need to complete 10 of the new training modules, attend a Tourism New Zealand training session and visit New Zealand.

Specialist status is then granted for two years.

After two years, agents’ specialist status will automatically roll-over provided agents have completed a further two modules and attended an additional Tourism New Zealand training session since gaining specialist status.
