New Zealand targets UK for boost in overseas visitors
New Zealand and Qantas are to spend almost £2m over two years trying to attract more overseas visitors to the destination from four key markets, including the UK.
The NZD 4m (approximately £1.95m) will be spent on joint promotional activities including TV and online advertising.
Tourism New Zealand and Qantas have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at boosting visitor arrivals into the country on Qantas flights.
It outlines a financial commitment to joint planning and partnership marketing in the UK and Australia, the US and Germany.
Each party will invest NZD 1m each year for two years from July 2012 to June 2014.
Qantas regional general manager New Zealand Rohan Garnett said: "We particularly look forward to developing the inbound tourism market from Australia, which underpins the close economic and cultural relationship between our two countries. In the long-haul markets of the UK, US and Germany, meanwhile, a combined approach will ensure New Zealand stands out in the competitive global tourism environment."
