NFL fans can sign up for TSA PreCheck at New York, San Francisco games
Football fans on both sides of the country can now sign up for the TSA PreCheck expedited program before cheering on their team.
PreCheck will be available for New York Jets fans outside MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, and San Francisco 49ers’ fans at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, for both ticketed and tailgate fans.
It is being managed by Idemia which is running the pilot PreCheck sign-up program at stadiums.
It uses TSA compliant IdentoGO technology and some biometric tech for the ‘trusted fan’ program.
"Our partnership with the Jets and the 49ers allows us to reach as many as 75,000 fans at each home game, and enroll a high percentage of those people into the proven safe and secure program," Didier Lamouche, Idemia’s CEO, told CNBC.
The in-person verification process is planned for more stadiums and by signing up before the game, fans get a bonus $20 gift certificate which can be used for beer, food and merchandise in the stadium.
The Stadium PreCheck scheme kicks off at the weekend before the 49ers’ game against the Dallas Cowboys at Levi’s Stadium.
