Nine more carriers join TSA PreCheck
The Transportation Security Administration has announced the latest expansion to the TSA PreCheck program, adding another nine airlines.
The latest to join are Air India, Asiana Airlines, China Airlines, Eastern Airlines, Elite Airways, EVA Airways, Japan Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, and Volaris.
There are now 65 domestic and international airlines eligible for PreCheck expedited screening.
"By continuing to expand TSA PreCheck we are increasing the overall effectiveness of the security we provide," said TSA administrator David Pekoske.
The program is available at more than 200 airports across the nation, offering expedited screening for trusted travelers.
This means approved travelers do not need to remove shoes, belts, jackets, some liquids and laptops.
According to the TSA, 94% of travelers using the PreCheck lanes complete the screening process in less than five minutes.
Available to US nationals and lawful permanent residents of the US, sign-up costs $85 and is good for five years.
