No change to surcharge for Virgin Blue
Airline Virgin Blue has insisted there is no change to its fuel surcharge at this time, after larger rival Qantas lifted its levy.
Virgin Blue said it is still monitoring the oil price situation, despite speculation it is only a matter of time before it lifts its fuel surcharge in response to the recent rise in oil prices.
“There is no change to our (surcharge) at this time,” a Virgin Blue spokesperson said.
“We are still continuing to monitor and review.”
Meanwhile, regional West Australian airline Skywest Ltd has become the latest air carrier to increase its fuel surcharges in response to the rising price of oil.
Effective from Friday the revised fuel levy for Turboprop routes will be $25 plus GST and $30 plus GST for routes serviced by jets.
Skywest last upped its fuel levy in September when the levy Turboprop routes rose to $22 and all other routes had a $25 levy.
