Nobu InterContinental Hong Kong opens
NOBU the acclaimed Japanese restaurant made its debut at the InterContinental Hong Kong. With panoramic views overlooking Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island, it is the first NOBU in Asia outside of Japan.
Nobuyuki Matsuhisa – known to the world simply as “Nobu” – is the internationally acclaimed and highly influential chef proprietor of NOBU, Matsuhisa and Ubon restaurants located around the world — from Beverly Hills to New York City, London to Tokyo, Aspen to Milan, Las Vegas to Miami Beach.
Nobu’s original restaurant, Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills, California was an instant success since its 1987 opening and became a magnet for food lovers and celebrities alike. It was here that Nobu’s longtime friendship and business relationship with Robert De Niro began. It was at De Niro’s urging that they opened NOBU in New York City in 1994. Like Matsuhisa, NOBU was a hit; and the success story and business partnership has continued with the opening of NOBU restaurants internationally.
With the opening of NOBU InterContinental Hong Kong, Nobu Matsuhisa now has 17 restaurants in 13 cities around the world. NOBU InterContinental Hong Kong is the 6th NOBU to open internationally and the first in Asia outside of Japan. He draws upon his classical training at a Tokyo sushi bar, his life abroad in Peru and Argentina, and his travels around the world to create a whole new trend in Japanese cooking.
