Northwest Air
Having just taken my first Northwest Airlines round trip vacation from Tri Cities, TN to Denver, CO, I have to say…. I will never use them again if possible! Friends warned me not to take them since they cancelled so many flights but I thought my flights were early (first thing) in the morning so I should be OK. Also, the seats when I booked, all seemed filled which would make changing/cancelling more difficult…,I thought! HA! When I arrived at the Tri-Cities Airport at 5:15 AM for a 6:30 flight, I was informed that the flight from Tri-Cities to Memphis had been cancelled. I did not see any other passengers…had they all been called? I was never informed and I have an hour’s drive to get to the airport! However, my home phone is forwarded to my cell phone so I would have gotten a call….if it had been made. I was put on a flight at 7:30 to Detroit which would have gotten me into Denver around noon instead of 9:00. I had a meeting that day at 11:00! Which I never made! The feeder flight (Mesaba Air) had the most uncomfortable seats I’ve ever experienced in an airplane…and I’ve been flying for over 70 years! But the final indignity was that when I needed to use the restroom….there was no toilet paper! Disgusting! In Detroit, there was another delay…I met quite a few people who had had their plans changed due to cancellations – none due to weather! We finally got on the runway about 2.5 hours after the scheduled departure when the pilot came on and said we would be a little longer on the runway while the pilot who had been taken off another flight caught up! Oh boy! We finally arrived in Denver and I got to my final destination more than 13 hours after I started in Tennessee. The return flight was ok, but the outgoing flight made me not want to fly NWA again.
