Norwegian CFO appointed as new chief executive
Geir Karlsen has been named as new CEO of Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA.
Karlsen succeeds Jacob Schram and is effective immediately.
Karlsen has held the position of Chief Financial Officer since April 2018.
From July to December 2019, he was Acting Chief Executive Officer of Norwegian and returns to the position on a permanent basis.
Over the last 12 year he has held various CFO positions at international companies such as Golden Ocean Group and Songa Offshore.
Before joining Norwegian he held the position of Group CFO at London-based Navig8 Group,
"Going forward, our main priorities will be to increase the profitability of our low-cost operations and to attract new and existing customers in all key markets. Norwegian is well positioned following the recent reconstruction of the company," said Karlsen.
The search for his replacement as CFO will start immediately.
