Norwegian Group reports strong October passenger traffic

Norwegian Group had another strong month for passenger traffic in October, posting a year-on-year increase of 3%

The Norwegian brand carried 2.25 million passengers, while Widerøe had 389,000 passengers, bringing the group total to 2.64 million.

Last week, the first brand-new Boeing 737 Max 8 from Norwegian’s 80-aircraft order arrived at Oslo Airport.

“October was a month of strong performance. We began the month announcing a new domestic route in Denmark, to be operated partly with sustainable aviation fuel, and ended it by welcoming the first new MAX 8 from Boeing,” said Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian.

Both airlines delivered strong on-time performance in October with Norwegian achieving a rate of 84.7% on time.

Norwegian’s winter schedule kicked off on 26 October with six new routes.

“We are excited about the start of this year’s winter programme and look forward to offering more routes to winter warm destinations, which have been well received by our Nordic customers,” Karlsen added.

“The booking momentum remains robust for the winter months and we see strong demand for Christmas travel.”
