NY creates foliage map for fall tourism
New York state tourism has published the season’s first fall foliage map, showing where early autumn colors can be found in the state.
The foliage report has been uploaded to the ‘I Love New York’ website and weekly updates are planned every Wednesday.
The report is part of a program to give New York tourism a boost this autumn, and will accompanied by a social media campaign.
Every week, a ‘Foliage Photog of the Week’ will be selected from fall photos posted on social media channels Twitter, Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag "#NYLovesFall.
A weekly winner will be picked each Wednesday starting September 24.
"The changing leaves drive regional tourism across upstate, supporting jobs and providing a significant boost to local economies," Gov. Cuomo said in a statement.
According to the first foliage report fall colors are gradually appearing in the Adirondacks, Catskills and Thousand Islands-St. Lawrence Seaway areas.
