New York City tourism officials expect yet another record breaking year and are targeting nearly 60 million visitors to the Big Apple during 2016.

NYC & Company revealed its 2016 forecast at ITB Berlin and projects 59.7 million visitors which would be the seventh successive year of record-breaking arrivals.

It forecasts 47 million US and 12.7 million international visitors

"New York City is experiencing an exciting moment in its history, with unprecedented developments and openings debuting across the five boroughs this year and beyond," said Fred Dixon, NYC & Company president and CEO.

NYC & Company said New York leads the way in hotel development with 107,000 hotel rooms available this year and a total of 133,000 rooms expected by the end of 2019.

"It is not surprising — but still exciting — to know that 2016 will be yet another record breaking year for tourism. I thank the businesses, artists and all New Yorkers who continue to make our city an attractive place for people around the world to continue visiting," mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement.
