Oakwood opening two properties in Beijing 2020 Winter Olympics zone
Serviced apartment and hotel operator Oakwood will manage two new properties sited within the 2022 Winter Olympics zone in Beijing.
Both are being developed in collaboration with Sinobo Thaiwoo (Zhangjiakou Chongli) Cultural & Tourism Co.
They will open in late 2020 and 2021, starting with Oakwood Suites Chongli, which will feature 118 studio, one and two-bedroom apartments.
It will also have a restaurant a separate tea lounge, lobby bar, fitness centre, swimming pool and ski shop.
A year later, Oakwood Hotel & Apartments Chongli is slated to open in Taizicheng Village.
It will have 173 hotel guest rooms and one-bedroom apartments with access to dining, a fitness centre and meeting space.
The Zhangjiakou Chongli region hosts the Beijing 2020 Winter Olympics and is situated about one hour from the capital when constriction of a high speed rail link is completed later this year.
Events taking place in the area include snowboarding, skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined and biathlon.
The Taizicheng Resort area will also have an international convention centre.
"In addition to hosting the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Zhangjiakou City will play an increasingly crucial role in the promotion of local economic, social and environmental developments," said Kee Whye Yeo, co-president of development partner Sinobo Land.
